I am excited to introduce Layered Language: my in-person styling services. My practice of reconnecting you with the art of getting dressed. Our goal is to explore your relationship to clothing, what you love, what no longer suits you, what you gravitate towards and how you want to feel. 

Why personal styling? 

Here’s what I’ve noticed: 

  • We’re outsourcing every bit of personal taste/identity to the algorithm goblin.

  • We miss girlhood and getting dressed is a little less fun. 

  • We and our lifestyles/priorities have changed. Where’s the time to be intentional, to ask questions, to purge, to edit, to practice and play? 

  • We no longer know where to shop or are let down by the process. 

What does a Wardrobe Edit involve? 

First I learn about you. We chat and I ask a lot of questions. Next, we edit and style your wardrobe. Then I follow up! I will source and link new or pre-loved items that contribute to the harmony and function of your closet. If you’re interested in further honing your skills, I have additional style services where we can continue to collaborate. 

Who am I? 

For me, getting dressed is play. The childlike excitement of dressing up. I do not have an incredible outfit every day I get dressed. This doesn’t diminish my confidence because the joy is the play. Some days I have the space to create, others I put together something comfortably familiar. Sometimes I get lucky and end up in an outfit I love, just by trying something weird.

I truly love that I get to express something through what I wear. I’ve always loved clothes but when I became a mom, I put that creativity on a back burner and she barely simmered for years. My priorities shifted and when I came back to this love, it became the fuel for Layered Language. This return to self has inspired me to bring others back to themselves. 

In this age of every little thing online, this is my own small form of rebellion. And the rebellion feels undeniably rewarding. Working in person, human to human is SO fun, life giving and grounding.
